About Me

I started playing guitar in 1985 in the UK, inspired by players like Alex Lifeson, Edward Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Mark Knopfler, and Gary Moore. After early lessons with Chris Lofthouse in Harrow, I spent my university years performing regularly at a blues, rock, and funk‑fusion night in Leicester — an experience that opened me up to a wide range of styles.

I later spent 15 years in California, performing at venues such as the House of Blues (Las Vegas), The Key Club (Hollywood), and The Coach House (San Juan Capistrano). During that time, I gigged with multiple bands, ran a solo project, and shared stages with national acts including Molly Hatchet and Berlin.

A major turning point came in 2005 when I studied at Musicians Institute (GIT) in Hollywood. Teachers including Scott Henderson, Carl Verheyen, Keith Wyatt, TJ Helmerich and Steve Hunter helped me connect the dots between scales, arpeggios, chords, and musical ideas — giving me the big‑picture framework that still shapes my playing and teaching today.

Earlier in my career, I competed in Guitar Center’s Guitarmageddon competition, performing in front of Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Steve Lukather, and Steve Stevens. After the competition evolved into King of the Blues, I was invited to judge alongside Def Leppard’s Phil Collen at the El Toro Guitar Center in Orange County. I later re‑entered the competition and placed in the US Top 25 in 2010 — a performance featured in the Orange County Register. Around the same time, my piece Road to Nashville was nominated for Best Instrumental at the Orange County Music Awards.

In 2009, I performed at the LA Amp & Custom Guitar Show — an event covered by Premier Guitar and Vintage Guitar Magazine, and attended by top builders and industry professionals including Reinhold Bogner, Dave Friedman, Pierangelo Mezzabarba, Brian Wampler, and others.

Guitar performance, instruction, and gear have been at the centre of my life for decades — and Guitartricity is where all of that experience comes together.

What I Offer

I absolutely love all things guitar — but even more than that, I love helping people grow as musicians. Teaching is where everything I’ve learned over decades of playing, performing, and working in high‑level corporate systems comes together.

My approach is rooted in clarity, structure, and a systems‑based way of learning. It’s designed to help you understand not just what to play, but why it works — so you can develop real confidence, real expression, and real musical identity.
